Van gearbox repairs

Typical van gearbox failures
The VW T5 Transporter gearbox problems are often diagnosed by noticing noisy bearings. This requires a complete bearing exchange and a top case modification.
The Renault Traffic, Vauxhall Vivaro and the Nissan Primastar all suffer from stiff gear selection problems. After the initial diagnosis, we begin the gearbox repair with a complete strip down to component parts. The selector arm, bearings and seals are all replaced with OE or equivalent high-quality parts, we also recommend a reset of all pre-loads. The Traffic uses all taper roller bearings, which we set optimum pre-load.
These are very common failures therefore this complete refresh aims to keep the customer on the road in to the foreseeable future.
Van gearbox exchange and reconditioned units
At our Geartech Midlands workshop, we hold a small amount of stock to enable an exchange of your original unit. However, as modern vehicles increasingly rely on electronic components it is imperative to supply the correct gearbox or differential parts.
Bearings and seals on the shelves
If we are unable to quickly source the correct replacement transmission and your unit is repairable, we will recondition your unit. We carry a massive stock of parts, bearings and seals in-house allowing us to repair or refurbish your gearbox with the minimum downtime for your business.

Your van’s gearbox can be stripped, diagnosed and the repair quoted for you free of charge. If you choose not to proceed we return the dismantled gearbox without charge.
